Graduate students 

​We are always happy to hear from potential Msc and PhD students. Graduate students typically start in September but other starting times are possible. If you would like to discuss a possible placement in the Cvetkovska Lab, please send me a CV, transcript (unofficial is fine), and a statement about your goals and why you would like to join this lab specifically.

  • Currently, graduate applicants with a >80% CGPA will have the opportunity to receive an admission scholarship ($9,000 on top of the graduate student stipend). 
  • I encourage and support graduate students applying for scholarships. These awards not only support your time at uOttawa but also look great on a CV! Some options are listed below, but this is not an exhaustive list and other scholarship opportunities might be available here or elsewhere

Undergraduate students 

We welcome inquiries from motivated undergraduate students looking to gain lab work experience and an introduction on how to preform scientific research. There are several ways you can join the lab as an undergraduate student:
  • Research Focus (BIO/BIM) - The Research Focus consists of a suite of five courses in the third and fourth years of study. The third year Research Practicum (BIM/BIO 3009) and the fourth year Honours Research Project (BIM/BIO4009) form the heart of the program.
  • Honours Research Projects (BIO/BIM)– 4th year students can join the lab and complete a research-intensive project (BIO/BIM4009l 9 credits) or a smaller project (BIO4004; 3 credits) over two semesters. If you are interested in joining us, I strongly recommend that you contact me early in the Winter semester. These positions fill up fast!
  • NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) – these competitive national scholarships provide full-time work doing research during the summer months. Check the website for deadlines and contact me well in advance if interested
  •  Undergraduate Science Research Opportunity (USRO) – Students will devote a minimum of 75 hours to research and will receive a scholarship. Please check the website for application deadlines
  • Co-op and work-study placements - We welcome inquires from students requiring work placement experience for their degree programs at uOttawa or other institutions, although these positions are dependent on funding

We welcome applications from those interested in joining the lab as Postdoctoral Fellows.

  • The best way to secure a postdoctoral position is to apply for external funding. I am happy to support scholarship and fellowship applications; some options are listed below (don't forget to check eligibility) but other opportunities might be available and candidate are encouraged to explore their options
