We welcome inquiries from motivated undergraduate students looking to gain lab work experience and an introduction on how to preform scientific research. There are several ways you can join the lab as an undergraduate student:
- BIO4009: Honours Research Project – 4th year students can join the lab and complete a research-intensive project over two semesters (9 credits). If you are interested in joining us, I strongly recommend that you contact me early in the Winter semester. These positions fill up fast!
- NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) – these competitive national scholarships provide full-time work doing research during the summer months. Check the website for deadlines and contact me well in advance if interested
- Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) – Students will devote a minimum of 75 hours to research and will receive a scholarship. Please check the website for application deadlines
- Co-op and work-study placements - We welcome inquires from students requiring work placement experience for their degree programs at uOttawa or other institutions
- Volunteers – we occasionally have volunteering opportunities for students interested in devoting several hours a week to lab-work
We welcome applications from those interested in joining the lab as Postdoctoral Fellows, however internal funding is not always guaranteed. In your application, please include a CV and cover letter that outlines your current and future interests, as well as why you want to join this lab specifically.
