Plants and Abiotic Stress
Plants are rooted in their environment and subject to many different changes in their surrounding . Cold stress is a major environmental factor that adversely affects plant growth, productivity and limits the geographical distribution of species . Plants have evolved mechanisms to withstand low temperatures but we are still far from fully understanding the molecular basis of cold perception and adaptation. In our lab we are particularly interested in how plants respond to low temperatures in the short- and long-term. We also work in elucidating the mechanisms of how plants respond to cold in combination with other abiotic stressors that they might encounter in their natural environment.
